Based in Bozeman, Montana, the GNFAC covers an area of approximately 10,000 km2, including the Bridger, Gallatin, Madison, and Washburn Ranges, the Lionhead area near West Yellowstone, and the mountains around Cooke City.
Alaska Avalanche School
Based in Anchorage, this educational nonprofit is the major source of public avalanche education for non-Southeast Alaska.

The national professional association for avalanche workers in the US, publishers of the Avalanche Review and Snow, Weather, and Avalanches: Observational Guidelines for Avalanche Programs in the United States. Certifying body for avalanche instructors, organizers of the Professional Avalanche Workers’ School, source of the course guidelines followed in the US, originators of the Westwide Avalanche Network.

Canadian Avalanche Association
Canada’s source for avalanche information. Go to the discussion group link, then the Klondike region, for people’s shared observations from the White Pass and Haines Pass areas. We encourage people to post Skagway and Haines observations on both this and our Public Observations page, and to check both sites before trips.

AIARE - The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education
The AIARE Education Committee is made up of avalanche education professionals with diverse backgrounds from around North America. The education committee meets yearly to discuss the issues facing avalanche education. Drawing on expertise from the education committee, course curriculum is reviewed, updated and upgraded as new research and knowledge leads to new understanding. Updated course materials are continually passed on to our course providers so you can be assured of getting the latest relevant information in your avalanche course.
The Hans Saari Memorial Fund
The Hans Saari Memorial Fund is dedicated to the memory of Hans Saari, his passion for skiing, his desire to learn, and his belief in careful planning and safety. The Fund raises the level of awareness and expertise among those traveling in avalanche terrain. The Fund contributes to the ski community and the sport of ski mountaineering by sponsoring and encouraging innovative ski expeditions and education programs
